The mission of the Hub Dance Narratives is to document and share online the connections between dance organizations and individuals in the Greater Boston area. It is built upon the collective memory and corresponding multimedia of organizational founders, educators, directors, and choreographers within the community who were initially active in the latter half of the 20th century. The collective memory will be made accessible through digital audio and/or video recordings, transcriptions of those recordings, and digital images. Over time, the goal is to expand to newer generations and wider range of dance practitioners and theorists in an organic, crowd-sourced manner.
The project began in 2014 and went into hiatus for 2016. Progress is slowly resuming in 2017. Next steps include interview transcription and metadata extraction.
